We have (7) cafe locations in NYC and are passionate about leading the matcha movement in a thoughtful, elevated and respectable way. Making matcha is all about the highest level of integrity, recipe mastery, and the energy to showcase your creations. We are looking for a caring and diligent Assistant Store Lead to join our growing team. Matchaful is committed to offering healthy, plant-based offerings and a serene environment to enjoy a perfectly crafted cup of matcha. We respect the art of Japanese matcha whisking, while fostering education around wellness through our adaptogenic ingredient bar. As Matchaful’sShift Lead, you'll be responsible for assisting the Store Lead & GMin leading the daily operations, people, and sales initiatives at ourCulinary Lab + Cafe location in Brooklyn, NY.You will help to ensure the highest level of quality for our incredible matcha-based wellness drinks and food, maintain a pristine, aesthetically amazing, and organized environment, and uphold the highest level of customer service—all while forging unique connections with our staff and our guests. About You: Strong leadership capabilities Respect for the traditional art of matcha Extreme care for the café space Excellent communication skills Excellent customer service skills and desire for connecting with community Pristine level of organization Incredible attention to detail Commitment to improving our café operations and presentation Requirements: 3+ years of hospitality leadership experience Flexible schedule must be available 4-5 days per week Wellness background | major plus Food handlers permit | required Core responsibilities (but not limited to): Monitor daily sales goals for employees, help to increase average ticket price by promoting upsell opportunities, and inspire team to meet them Assist Store Lead in tracking towards labor goals and maintain or improve Google ratings Lead matcharista team on company and store priorities and directives Incorporate sales techniques to boost retail sales Assist in onboarding new hires, training new team members, and retraining team members Attend biweekly meetings with leadership to review priorities and sales goals Lead initiatives to maintain a happy and professional workplace environment and make sure staff is complying with company dress code and etiquette policies, as well as DOH compliance at all times Develop and continue skill set of matcharistas and communicate performance updates on a weekly basis to Store Lead Order weekly items through internal Marketman transfers Communicate equipment issues or ingredient/supply shortages on items Make sure that staff are executing menu changes or seasonal menu items properly Correct certain disciplinary actions while working and communicate them to Store Lead Communicate on a regular basis to the store team via Slack Assist Store Lead/GM in helping to manage café scheduling on Square Teams Communicate with barista staff about schedule changes Assist with keeping shifts covered - when baristas are sick, no-shows, etc. Ensure café is always prepared for a health inspection, lead the café to maintain an Ainspection grade Ensure that drink making is streamlined and there’s a good flow Conduct consistent or as-needed quality checks on all drinks/products Monitor employee time cards in Square Lead organization of storage areas Conduct weekly and monthly inventory reports in Marketman, ensure that Square is accurately reported Required to be available for EOM inventory counts (last day of the month) Place orders to Commissary Kitchen based on Square sales reports through Marketman Ensure all concentrates are sufficiently stocked at all times Monitor dates of all fresh concentrates, milks, and produce, to ensure nothing is usedpast its recommended date - Make sure everything is labeled. Enforce and assist with record keeping of all food waste Keep retail stocked on display shelves at all times maintain beautiful storefront Delegate tasks to staff during slow periods
